Squirrelfish are large-eyed, colorful fish that live in tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean! They have spiny fins and rough scales, some with spikes on their cheeks. Most squirrelfish are red in color; many others have yellow or black markings as well. These camouflage colors allow them to blend into coral reefs for safety from predators like other squirrels fishes or sharks

Squirrelfish, also sometimes called soldierfish. Squirrelfish are closely related to soldierfish, who get their name from the tight formation they use when swimming in groups. Squirrelfish stand out for the clicking noise they make to warn each other that predators are approaching. They make this noise by flapping their fins and vibrating their swim bladders. Recent studies have found that squirrelfish can judge how threatening a predator is by the sound it makes.

The 70 different species of squirrel fishes exist primarily in the Eastern Atlantic between Gabon and Angola as well as Ascension Island off Africa's coast through St Helena eastward near Brazil toward Bermuda
