Jockey's Cap Lily Art on Canvas in a Red Bijou Frame.
The Jockey's Cap Lily is a species of flowering plant in the Iris family. Common names include Mexican Shell flower, Peacock Flower, Tiger Iris and tiger Flower. It blooms early in the morning and closes before dusk with three-petalled flowers that come in many colors including reds and whites with contrasting markings. They usually bloom all summer long until late fall when they die back for the winter!
The plant only takes one year for it to bloom after being planted into ground. but since it does not grow well in colder regions such as Canada; its best if the bulbs are dug up and they are stored during winter months before planting them back near spring season again when temperatures start warming up once more.
The American Indians have used these plants as medicine because they contain renin which has been demonstrated to decrease blood pressure. Roasted bulbs are edible and have been used by American Indians and Indigenous peoples of Mexico. They have a flavor similar to chestnuts.
