West Indian Chank Shell Art in Black and White on Canvas in a Black Bijou Frame.

The West Indian Chank shell or Lamp Shell is a species of very large tropical sea snail which can reach up to 19 inches in length. The name "chank" for this species is derived from the word shankha, the divine conch or sacred conch. This mollusk can be found in the Western Atlantic Ocean from Florida Keys and the Bahamas south to Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Haiti. They are also found on Caribbean coastlines from Mexico to Costa Rica. Their shells can be white or pink-orange colored.

If you are a conchologist (collector and student of shells) we would love to hear from you about how you would improve this description.
